PRADO MUSEUM
El Prado is properly the most famous museum in Spain. It contains more than 18.000 paintings, sculptures and other pieces of art. Among the most popular artist in the museum are Velazquez and Goya both of whom have their finest paintings exposed in El Prado. It is also possible to find other important Spanish Artists such as el Greco and Zurbaran or paintings from all over Europe. The building of the museum is a masterpiece in itself. It was ordered to be built by Carlos III in 1875 and was designed by the architect Juan de Villanova.

ROYAL PALACE
Philip V ordered this palace build in 1738 after a fire in 1734 had totally rebuild the former Royal Palace. The Italian architect Filippo Juvara was named as designer but after his sudden death years later Battista Sacchetti took over the project. The palace was built in stone and granite to avoid fires and inside can be found an impressive collection of paintings, sculptures and Royal decorations.

The Posada offers visitors a classic Madrid eating experience. A picturesque inn – the building actually dates back to 1642 – this restaurant’s speciality is roast lamb. Meals typically start with a selection of tapas (hams, cheeses, roasted peppers…) and finish with the now-rare traditional puddings such as bartolillos (small pastries filled with custard, then fried).
